Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro First Sale in India Saw Over 300,000 Units Sold in Under 3 Minutes: Xiaomi

Xiaomi recently launched its latest in the mid-range smartphone segment in India - Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro. Basking in the success of the previous-generation Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi claims to have seen a massive response in the first sale of the two phones held on Thursday. The company states that it held its biggest flash sale ever since coming to India, with over 300,000 Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro units sold out within the first three minutes of the flash sale held on both Mi.com and Flipkart. The Mi TV 4 was also sold out within 10 seconds of its sale.

Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi Global VP, on Thursday took to Twitter to make the announcement. "#RedmiNote5 & #RedmiNote5Pro: we sold 3L+ units in <3 mins. This means 1L+ phones/min! After the amazing success of Redmi Note 4, we had put in a lot of effort to increase supply of Redmi Note 5. This was the biggest ever sale in India!," he said in the tweet. On the other hand, Xiaomi's Mi LED TV 4 was also on sale in India and was claimed to have sold out within 10 seconds. The number of units on sale for the Mi TV have not been announced yet. Next sale of the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro will be held on February 28, while the next sale for Mi LED TV 4 will be held on February 27.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is priced in India at Rs. 9,999 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB RAM model. The Redmi Note 5 Pro bears a price tag of Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB RAM variant and Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB RAM variant. And, finally, the Mi LED TV 4 is available in India for a price of Rs. 39,999.

Briefly talking about the specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is essentially a rebranded Redmi 5 Plus and sports a 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) display. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, coupled with 3GB/ 4GB of RAM and 32GB/ 64GB of inbuilt storage.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro sports the same 5.99-inch but has a more powerful Snapdragon 636 SoC. The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with options of 4GB/ 6GB RAM and has 64GB onboard storage.

The Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4, the company's first Mi TV in India, comes with 4K and HDR capabilities. It is claimed to be the 'world's thinnest LED TV' with a thickness of 4.9mm. The TV runs a custom version of PatchWall UI, designed for the Indian market.
