  • Jio has raised the price of Rs. 491 plan to Rs. 499
  • Other details of the plan remain the same
  • The Rs. 499 plan comes with 1GB data per day for 91 days

Jio has increased the price of its new Rs. 491 prepaid recharge pack to Rs. 499 in less than a week of its launch. The Rs. 491 Jio plan was launched as part of the Diwali tariff revision and comes with bundled 91GB data and other freebies that the company offers. In fact, it is the plan with the longest validity with 1GB daily data allocation at 91 days that the operator is offering at the moment. The plan was priced at Rs. 491 till Monday, but this morning the tariff has been revised to Rs. 499. The increase is marginal but it is not clear what prompted the revision for this particular plan, and there was no official announcement regarding the same.

The is the second iteration for the Jio Rs. 499 plan – the original came with 2GB 4G data per day and was part of the original roster of plans when the company started operations last year. It was phased out when the company introduced the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer, giving the same benefits at Rs. 509 instead of Rs. 499.

At present, the Jio Rs. 499 plan (or even the Rs. 491 pack) is not mentioned on the official Jio website in its list of plans for prepaid users. Instead, subscribers need to go to the MyJio app or the recharge section of the official site in order to buy the Rs. 499 plan.

It is positioned between the Rs. 459 and Rs. 509 plans, though it does not seem to be as attractive as the other two. The Rs. 459 Jio plan comes with 84GB data for 84 days, a difference of 7 days in validity and Rs. 40. The Rs. 509 plan provides 2GB data a day for 49 days. All three plans come with freebies the company offers, such as the free calls and SMSes and access to Jio apps.

The plan was launched as part of the October 19 tariff revision that saw new prepaid plans being introduced, while postpaid plans saw their validities curtailed. The post-FUP speed across plans has also been reduced from 128kbps to 64kbps as part of the revision.
