If reports are to be believed, users could soon send money using Google Glass eyewear, with a Google Wallet account, a few gestures and a voice command.

According to a report by TechCrunch, the Mountain View giant is planning to debut Google Wallet functionality on its Google Glass eyewear, via new Wallet glassware.

The report cites sources close to the company to say that Google is currently testing the service internally, and will be launching the service for the general public soon. Reportedly, to enable the service Google employees need to be signed into a company network, and can then proceed to install Google Wallet glassware.

The sources add that mobile money transfer through the Google Wallet to Google Contacts can be initiated by simply saying "send money". Like the regular Google Wallet service, the company is expected to charge a minimum 2.9 percent fee on the transactions, or 30 cents, whichever is higher.

Google has worked to revamp Wallet over the past couple of years. The eyewear device was recently made available to the general public in a one-day online sale in April. The company soon after announced it had sold out all stock within a day.

A new teardown of the Google Glass eyewear by Teardown.com estimated a bill of materials of roughly $80, staggeringly contrasted by the $1,500 price tag Google demands.

To be noted of course is that a bill of materials is usually far less than the cumulative costs required to develop a product, from R&D to talent, especially one in a new product category - like Google Glass.
