After raising a successful record-breaking $20 million in a kickstarter project for the Pebble Time smartwatch, Pebble last month started shipping out the device to its Kickstarter backers. On Monday, the Pebble Time went up for pre-orders in the US exclusively via Best Buy at $199.99 (roughly Rs. 12,700).

The Pebble Time smartwatch (not to be confused with the Pebble Time Steel) is available to pre-order in Black, Red, and White colour variants from the e-commerce website.

As for when the smartwatch will ship to pre-order customers, Pebble said it will update users on the exact timing of pre-order shipments, apart from in-store availability dates, in an upcoming blog post. The firm has not revealed when the Pebble Time Steel, which was launched last month and sports a stainless steel build, will be made available to order.

The third Pebble smartwatch to hit the market, the Pebble Time comes with a new colour 1.25-inch E-Paper display, and is slimmer than the original Pebble by 20 percent with a 9.5mm thickness. The company has also included a microphone for responding to notifications. The smartwatch is compatible with Android and iOS smartphones via Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and the Pebble Time app.

Featuring a new timeline interface, Pebble Time is said to be fully compatible with all 6,500 plus existing Pebble apps and watchfaces. The watch also uses scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass and it is water-resistant like the previous generation Pebble watches. Users can also replace the band with all standard 22mm watch bands.

Compatible with both Android and iOS mobile platforms, the Pebble Time has also got a smart accessory port, enabling hardware developers to build sensors and smart straps that connect directly to the watch. The watch is claimed to deliver week-long battery life.
