Xiaomi-Backed Huami Amazfit Verge With Circular AMOLED Display, NFC Support, 5-Day Battery Life Launched

Xiaomi-backed Huami Amazfit Verge sports an IP68-certified build and is powered by a dual-core processor

Xiaomi-backed Huami has expanded its range of wearables by launching the Amazfit Verge. The new smartwatch that is designed keeping in mind the needs of fitness geeks features a round AMOLED display and comes with an IP68-certified build. It is also touted to deliver as much as five days of battery life on a single charge. Further, there is built-in NFC support to enable a bus card swipe feature in China. The Amazfit Verge comes with Xiaomi's proprietary Xiao AI voice assistant. The smartwatch also has 11 different modes for activity tracking. Additionally, there is GPS as well as GLONASS support to precisely track your running and walking. When connected with a compatible Android smartphone, the Amazfit Verge is also capable of enabling voice call support.

Amazfit Verge price, specifications

The Huami Amazfit Verge price in China has been set at CNY 799 (roughly Rs. 8,400). It is already available for purchase through JD.com and Tmall in three colour options, Moonlight White, Sky Grey, and Twilight Blue.

Huami Amazfit Verge runs Android-based Amazfit OS and features a 1.30-inch AMOLED display with 360x360 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartwatch is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. There is an optical sensor to enable heart rate monitoring. Also, the smartwatch has a bunch of other sensors, including accelerometer, air pressure sensor, ambient light, geomagnetic sensor, and gyroscope.

Huami has provided a built-in microphone and loudspeaker to enable voice calling support on the Amazfit Verge. Further, there is Mijia integration to let you control Yi lights, air purifiers, wall sockets, air conditioners, electric fan, and rice cooker directly from your wrist. The smartwatch also comes with Xiao AI voice assistant that is designed to answer your queries.

Similar to other smartwatches, the Amazfit Verge supports a variety of watch faces. There is also WeChat integration to let you send messages to your friends or receive their messages - without using your smartphone. There are as many as 11 motion modes, including indoor running, trail running, walking, elliptical machine, mountaineering, tennis, ski, and football. These help you track your activities. Similarly, there is GPS/ GLONASS support to add accuracy to your activity tracking.

The Huami Amazfit Verge also has Alipay support to let you make payments while on-the-go. In terms of connectivity, the smartwatch has Bluetooth v4.0 (LE), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, and NFC. There is a built-in 390mAh battery that is touted to deliver five days of power on a single charge. Furthermore, the smartwatch is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 or iOS 9.0 and later.
