Google on Tuesday launched its Chrome v40 browser for iOS devices with some new features and its iconic Material Design. It is worth mentioning that Google has already brought its Material Design in iOS devices through the Google Maps app.

The new Chrome version for iPhone and iPad models also includes the Handoff feature first introduced with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. For those unaware, Handoff is the ability to pick up your work where you left off when switching between iOS and OS X devices. The feature in Chrome 40 for iOS lets users transfer their tabs from iOS devices to their default web browser on an OS X system, and vice versa.

Besides Google's Material Design aesthetic that first came as a part of Android 5.0 Lollipop in October, the latest Chrome browser also comes optimised for iOS 8 and 'bigger phones' - specifically, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Some stability improvements and bug fixes are also included in the update.

It is worth mentioning that Google is currently working on a couple of more features for Chrome browser for mobile devices. In November during the Chrome Dev Summit, Darin Fisher, VP Engineering said that Chrome engineers are working on improving background capabilities, such as updated cached and offline content, but it will take some time. The Chrome push notifications feature for developers is also in the pipeline.

Google earlier this month also launched Chrome Remote Desktop for iOS. Through the app, users can control their computers through their iOS device.
