Google has updated its Keep app - the note-taking app that lets users make quick notes and lists - with new sharing features.

The updated Google Keep app is now available on Google Play and is compatible with devices running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and higher. The updated Keep app is now also available for the Web and the Chrome Web Store. The search engine giant notes that the existing users will be receiving the new sharing feature via the app update.

With the new update, Keep users will be able to share their notes or lists with others. The latest update also allows users to work together on a list or note in real-time, collaboratively.

For example, a list or note created by a user syncs in real-time across the app interface, and it can then be edited and organised by another user with whom it has been shared.

The official Google Play listing of Keep adds that the update brings Android Wear compatibility; bug fixes, and performance improvements. It adds, "Take a note, see reminders, and view and check off lists on Android wearables."

Announcing the update, Ken Thai, Software Engineer and Chief Listmaker in a blog post titled 'Google Keep: Share ideas with friends and family', says, "Now with Google Keep, not only can you jot down ideas or put together shopping lists, you can also share them with friends and family and work on them at the same time."

The latest Google Keep update will now also allow users to filter notes by colour and other attributes. "Searching for your notes is simpler now too. You can filter notes by colour and other attributes such as whether they're shared, have a reminder, are lists, or have an image or audio. Find what you're looking for even faster, and let Keep do the remembering for you," Google adds.

Earlier this year, Google Keep received some UI redesigns such as the top yellow-coloured bar was added to make the app look like other Google Apps along with a side-bar, which included Trash, Feedback, account switcher, removing the 'Settings' option and other functions.

Google's alternative to popular Evernote app was launched last year.
