Google on Thursday updated its Search (aka Google app) app for iOS devices bringing the app to version 9.0. The update would now let iOS users tap and play gif images in image search results. The update comes soon after both Apple and Google introduced Live Photos and Burst Shots feature in latest iPhone and Nexus models.

The Google app update for iOS additionally introduces the ability to add a photo or review for their favourite local places and get map results inside the app when searching for an address. The updated app is available to download from the App Store.

Google has lately been pushing a slew of update for its apps on the rival company's mobile operating system. The search giant earlier this week updated Google Photos and YouTube for iOS, bringing new features. The Photos app now allows users to give private labels, and merge face groups in Search. Sharing of gif files to WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger apps are also possible. As for YouTube, users will now be able to access recommended videos, subscriptions feed, and their favourite channels by either tapping on their respective icons or swiping your screen.

It also updated Google Maps for iOS last month. The update, besides adding new features to the mapping service, also brings the app to Apple Watch. The update app lets users compare estimated time of arrival (ETA) for different transportation modes such as driving, walking, and biking. Calling a business or view directions to a particular location from a list of places are also a part of the update.
