Spain-based phone manufacturer, GeeksPhone which was earlier selling Firefox OS-based phones, has now announced Revolution, a new smartphone capable of running Android as well as the Firefox OS smartphone operating systems.

First reported by Gigaom, the company announced on Thursday that the Revolution phone will allow users to run one of the two operating systems or even both, in case you're an advanced user.

Details on the Revolution phone are thin, at this point in time,  with a landing page created for the phone just featuring a pregnant woman with a message 'The revolution is coming. Stay tuned,' mentioned alongside and a representation of a chip accompanied by 'A creation with a powerful heart' text.

However, it's likely that the phone will cost less than 300 Euros, since GeeksPhone is giving an option to customers who had pre-ordered its Peak+ Firefox OS based (Boot2Gecko) phone by paying 149 Euros, to get the Revolution at the same price, claiming it's giving them a 'near 50 percent discount.'

A GeeksPhone spokeswoman told Gigaom that the device can be ordered with Android operating system or Mozilla but for advanced users, Mozilla's OS can be installed through a ROM with Android.

Geeksphone co-founder Javier Aguera said, "We are very excited about this new device. Once again we will revolutionise the world of mobile network. We are also confident that we will surprise everyone by its very high performance and it's very competitively priced."

It's worth pointing out that the company has not been able to ship Peak+, an upgraded version of Peak, which was one of the first Firefox OS smartphones, which it announced in July. It has blamed 'serious problems in the components' supply chain in Asia' for the issues and has offered to refund the full amount to users, or a Peak phone along with a 15 Euro credit, or a new Revolution phone, in lieu of the phone. However it has not announced any timelines for the availability of the phone.

It's worth pointing out that GeeksPhone cannot use the name Firefox OS for the software powering its phone as it's only for OEMs that have tie-ups with carriers. It still calls its OS, Boot2Gecko, the initial name for Firefox OS.
