Karbonn seems all set to launch a new series of smartphones, dubbed the Karbonn Opium N7 and Opium N9. Both smartphones have been listed at an online retailer's website for a discounted price of Rs. 5,999 (MRP Rs. 6,390) and Rs. 8,999 (MRP Rs. 9,990), respectively.

Though there is no official word on the naming convention of the new Opium series, it is little strange that Karbonn is using a drug's name for a phone. Starting with the budget Karbonn Opium N7 smartphone, we see it supports dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) and runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, according to the retailer's listing. It features a 4-inch WVGA IPS display which offers 480x800 pixels resolution.

It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core (unspecified chipset) processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. The Karbonn Opium N7 smartphone comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera along with LED flash support and there is a front-facing camera 0.3-megapixel also onboard. Apart from 4GB of inbuilt storage, the Karbonn Opium N7 supports an additional 32GB of storage expansion via microSD card. Connectivity options on Opium N7 smartphone include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

The Karbonn Opium N7 packs a 1600mAh Li-Ion battery and is available in Black colour via HomeShop18.
