OnePlus raised the curtain on its second flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 2, in a much-touted virtual reality launch event early on Tuesday (IST). The phone launch garnered much interest thanks to the flurry of teasers and leaks ahead of the launch. The Chinese company even went on to claim the OnePlus 2 as the '2016 flagship killer'. However, it seems the next year's flagship killer smartphone misses out on some basic features such as NFC, Quick Charging, and even wireless charging.

Soon after the features were confirmed to be missing from the OnePlus 2 smartphone, several users vented their frustration on different forums and company channel. Android Police reached out to OnePlus for comment on the lack of NFC feature and received a reply that read, "We heard from a lot of users of the One and saw most of our users weren't using NFC."

While some may agree to the reason given by OnePlus for dumping NFC connectivity in its OnePlus 2 smartphone, the fact of the matter is the new technology is now even found on several mid-range smartphones. The technology has finally taken off lately with the some companies allowing contactless payments with NFC via a terminal in a store. With the missing feature, OnePlus 2 users won't be able to make use of Google's recently unveiled pay-with-a-phone system for Android devices called Android Pay in physical stores.

The missing Qualcomm Quick Charging feature, despite having a supported chipset, will mean that the OnePlus 2 consumers will have to go bear regular charging times via wall adaptor or a portable charger. Android Police cites OnePlus and notes that the OnePlus 2 will take up to 3 hours and 20 minutes for a full charge.

To refresh, the OnePlus 2 will go on sale in India, China, the US, Canada, and select EU regions on August 11. The 64GB OnePlus 2 has been priced in India at Rs. 24,999 and be available via Amazon India.
