Another day and another Pixel 2 related issue reported. After several users reported clicking and high-pitched sounds on their Pixel 2 units, which will get a software fix soon, it was the turn of another audio related issue. Some Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL users have reported their units are having audio issues when recording video. Some of the other reported issues claim Android Auto is crashing on the new Pixel 2 devices and portrait mode shots failing to deliver on the Pixel 2 XL.

Starting with the audio issue, some users reported that they were noticing issues in audio while recording videos on their Pixel 2 units. The company's Pixel User Community forum was full with several posts related to the audio issue while recording a video.

One of the users wrote, "My new Pixel 2 XL sound quality is very bad when I am shooting a video. The sound seems like I am in a tin can with very high pitch." One of Google's Community Manager acknowledged the issue and said, "Does this happen all the time, or only in certain environments? If it happens only occasionally, then there might be something software related that is interfering with the way audio is getting recorded. If it happens all the time, then it might be a hardware issue, unfortunately." It turns out that the issue is software related as the company has reached out to CNET confirming that Google is aware about the issue and a fix will be rolled out to users in the coming weeks.

Separately, few Android Auto users are experiencing random app crashes on their Pixel 2 XL units. Some users have taken the issue to Android Auto User Community and detailed it. One of the users wrote, "I just got my Pixel 2 XL and had been using it to and from work but went on a longer 2+ hour drive and was having issues. Android Auto will just close randomly and the only way to get it back up is to unplug and re-plug the phone into the car. This happens when using Google Play Music and also with Google Maps open. [.....] It doesn't appear to crash on song change or on route change. Most of the music I listen to is stored on the phone. I didn't have an issue on my Nexus 6P running Android 8.0 Oreo." Android Auto team has taken note of the issue and adds that they will send an email with the instructions to Android Auto users experiencing the issue. We can expect an update to fix the issue soon.

In another issue related to the new Pixel 2 XL, select users are experiencing portrait mode shots failing to deliver background blur and turning up as regular shots. Artem Russakovskii of Android Police detailed the issue in a Pixel User Community post, and added that Pixel 2 XL doesn't fail every time he tried taking portrait shots. Though, when he tried taking portrait shots in burst mode then they turned as regular. Google is yet to acknowledge the issue.
