  • The fingerprint scanner is tipped to be housed in the front

Xiaomi CEO and Founder Lei Jun recently confirmed that the successor of the bezel-free Xiaomi Mi MIX is in the works. The original variant was launched in China last year, and it sported a true bezel-free design with a 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. The successor is expected to up the notch even further with a 93 percent screen-to-body ratio. Furthermore, a separate report also claims that the Mi MIX 2 will sport an AMOLED display as well.

MyDrivers reports that the Mi MIX 2 will sport an AMOLED display with curved edges on the side to maximise screen real estate even further. At the bottom, there will be a thin black bezel that will house a fingerprint sensor, according to the report. This is a shift from the predecessor's design formula that sports the fingerprint reader at the back of the smartphone.

Apart from this, there is little else that is known about the successor as of now. The Xiaomi Mi MIX was launched in October last year, and we can expect the same time frame for the Mi MIX 2 as well. Xiaomi had unveiled the white variant of the Xiaomi Mi MIX at CES 2017 this year. The device was launched in October in two variants - 4GB RAM/ 128GB storage priced at CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs. 34,500), and 6GB RAM/ 256GB storage priced at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 39,500).

Just to recall, the Mi MIX features a 6.4-inch display and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The smartphone sports 16-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, an f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash. It also sports a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video chats.
