Oppo has expanded the Reno series with the introduction of the Reno 8 5G and the Reno 8 Pro 5G (Review). These two smartphones are being marketed as “The Portrait Expert” by Oppo. We've already reviewed the Reno 8 Pro 5G which impressed us with its design and build quality, but it didn't offer as much value as the competition when it came to performance. Will the Oppo Reno 8 5G deliver a similar experience or does it have an edge over the competition? Let's find out.
Oppo Reno 8 Summary
Oppo Reno 8 mobile was launched on 23rd May 2022. The phone comes with a 90 Hz refresh rate 6.43-inch touchscreen display offering a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels (FHD+) at a pixel density of 409 pixels per inch (ppi). Oppo Reno 8 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor. It comes with 8GB of RAM. The Oppo Reno 8 runs Android 12 and is powered by a 4500mAh battery. The Oppo Reno 8 supports proprietary fast charging.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Oppo Reno 8 on the rear packs a triple camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel (f/1.8) primary camera; a 2-megapixel (f/2.2) camera, and a 2-megapixel (f/2.4, macro) camera. The rear camera setup has autofocus. It has a single front camera setup for selfies, featuring a 32-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture.
The Oppo Reno 8 runs ColorOS 12.1 is based on Android 12 and packs 128GB of inbuilt storage. The Oppo Reno 8 is a dual-SIM (GSM and GSM) mobile that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards. The Oppo Reno 8 measures 160.00 x 73.40 x 7.67mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 179.00 grams. It was launched in Black and Gold colours.
Connectivity options on the Oppo Reno 8 include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, Bluetooth v5.30, NFC, USB Type-C, 3G, 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India) , and 5G. Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass/ magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and in-display fingerprint sensor. The Oppo Reno 8 supports face unlock.
