A monument of Apple founder Steve Jobs is to be established in Russian city of St. Petersburg.

An exhibition of draft projects for a future monument to Apple founder Steve Jobs, who died last October, opened in St. Petersburg Monday, a spokeswoman for the project's organiser said.

A competition to select a Steve Jobs monument project was announced July 23 following which a total of 25 projects have made it into the final.

"We have opened an exhibition of 25 works that were selected for the final," the spokeswoman said, adding that it will be opened at least until Sep 6.

Soon after Jobs's death Oct 5, 2011, a bronze monument to him was unveiled in Budapest, Hungary, while the tiny Brazilian town of Jundiai near Sao Paulo named a street after him.

The city hall of the Ukrainian city of Odessa also announced plans to unveil a monument to the late Apple founder. The two-meter, hand-shaped steel memorial has a hole in the centre in the shape of the Apple's trademark logo.
