Xiaomi recently introduced its new generation of Pad series in India. Yes, we are talking about the Xiaomi Pad 8. The latest tablet from the company brings an interesting set of features and specifications that already make it among the best tablets of 2026. The latest tablet from the brand is now available with a compact yet premium design, a powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, Android 16, and more.

The Xiaomi Pad 8 comes with a price tag of Rs 33,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The 12GB + 256GB model is priced at Rs. 36,999. Lastly, we have the new Nano Texture Display, priced at Rs. 38,999. With this, the latest Xiaomi tablet is eyeing to get all the attention in this price segment. However, does it have enough arsenal to become the Chosen One? Let's find out in this review:

Xiaomi Pad 8 Design: Compact and Premium

  • Dimension: 251.22 x 173.42 x 5.75mm
  • Weight: 485g
  • Colours: Titanium Blue and Graphic Grey

Xiaomi has played it safe with the design of the Xiaomi Pad 8. It doesn't feel like a drastic change from the Pad lineup, especially compared to the Xiaomi Pad 7. However, Xiaomi has made sure to make it sleeker and lighter than the previous model. The normal variant measures 5.75mm and weighs 485 grams, while the Nano Texture Display variant is marginally thicker with 5.8mm thickness and weighs 494 grams.

The Xiaomi Pad 8 features a premium design language.

You get the same aluminium unibody chassis, which sure looks premium. It got the Graphic Grey colour option for the review, and it looks subtle and premium in hand. The flat-edge design makes it easier to hold. The ports' placement is practical with the power key on the top-left edge.

The Type-C port is at the bottom, surrounded by two speaker grilles, while the top edge features volume controls and the other two speaker grilles, completing the quad-speaker setup. Moreover, you also get an almost invisible strip that acts as a magnetic dock for the stylus. The rear panel features a camera module at the top-left position, and at the bottom, you will see the Pogo connector for the keyboard.

The latest tablet from the brand comes with a new Focus keyboard and Xiaomi Pro stylus.

The latest tablet from the brand comes with Xiaomi Focus Pen Pro stylus and the new Focus keyboard. The accessories are sold additionally, and you can get the Pen Pro for Rs. 5,999 and the Focus keyboard for Rs. 8,999.

Adding these accessories makes it a complete package for the customer. I really liked the new Focus keyboard with the tablet. The keys were clicky enough to give you that laptop keyboard feel. It also offers a reasonable travel distance and tactile feedback when you type on it. Whether you take notes quickly or write lengthy articles, you will face no trouble. I also liked that the keyboard is backlit, which makes late-night typing easier.

The Xiaomi Focus Pen Pro stylus has been improved and now features a buttonless design. Instead, you get haptic feedback when you double-press or pinch on the sides. The stylus works as intended, and throughout the review period, I didn't feel any lag. The good thing here is that the pen also attaches magnetically to the tablet; the power isn't great, but it's just enough to hold in place.

Xiaomi Pad 8 Display and Audio: Decent

  • Display: 11.2-inch LCD display (3200 x 2136 pixels)
  • Refresh Rate: 144Hz screen refresh rate
  • Other Features: 3:2 aspect ratio, DCI-P3, 800nits HBM brightness, Dolby Vision, HDR10

The display of the Xiaomi Pad 8 is sure to be a major highlight. The tablet comes loaded with an 11.2-inch 3K LCD with a 3:2 aspect ratio. The Xiaomi Pad 8 display meets the standard despite being an LCD panel.

2 Xiaomi Pad 8

The tablet comes with a nano texture display, which looks quite good and premium.

Xiaomi is known for its colour tuning, which is evident in this tablet as well. The Nano Texture Display variant is a good deal, as it cuts glare quite effectively, which is quite helpful when you are watching content on the go. Moreover, the display supports Dolby Vision, enabling you to enjoy supported content.

I watched multiple shows and anime on Netflix during the review period and was satisfied with the colour reproduction. The colours were vibrant, while the blacks were good as well. However, the auto-brightness mode makes the content look a bit darker, and you have to adjust it to improve it manually. The good thing here is that the company has also added a 144Hz screen refresh rate, which makes the whole animations much smoother and buttery-smooth.

The tablet also comes loaded with four speakers and supports Dolby Atmos. The speaker output is well-balanced, with the right amount of bass and volume, making it a good device for watching any content.

Xiaomi Pad 8 Software: Smooth Experience

  • Software: Xiaomi HyperOS 3
  • Version: Android 16
  • Updates Promised: 4 years of OS and 6 years of security patches

The latest tablet from the brand runs HyperOS 3, which is based on Android 16. The user interface is noticeably cleaner and polished compared to the previous versions. The user interface brings a modern look. The company has reduced the bloatware on this tablet, which is a good thing.

The tablet comes loaded with latest HyperOS 3, which is based on Android 16 operating system.

The tablet also comes loaded with some interesting connectivity features. The Xiaomi HyperConnect feature, for example, helps you connect your laptop to other devices seamlessly. More importantly, if you have installed the application on a Mac or Windows, you can seamlessly transfer files, mirror your tablet as an extended display, and do more with the application.

Then you have a full suite of Xiaomi Hyper AI, which offers a bunch of AI generation tools. You have interesting tools like AI Speech Recognition and AI Interpreter, which help when you are video conferencing with a foreign client or such. The AI Writing and AI Art are also there, which you can fiddle with in your free time.

Apart from this, you get the usual Split-screen and floating windows support, making multitasking easy. The brand has also confirmed that it will provide this tablet with four years of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

Xiaomi Pad 8 Performance: Does the Job

  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4
  • Memory: Up to 12GB (LPDDR5T)
  • Storage: 256GB (UFS 4.1)

The latest tablet from Xiaomi comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, a meaningful upgrade over the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 in the Xiaomi Pad 7. The chipset delivers near-flagship-level performance, and you notice the difference in real life.

5 Xiaomi Pad 8

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor provides good performance, meaning you can do multitasking and gaming with ease.

The tablet easily handles most of the tasks you throw at it. Switching between different applications while playing songs on YouTube Music in the background was smooth enough. From using Google Keep for quick notes to opening multiple floating windows with Workstation Mode, the tablet runs smoothly with no lag or crashes.

In gaming, the tablet handles most games quite well. The Call of Duty Mobile ran smoothly with the default setting of High graphics quality and Max frame rate. The thermal performance was decent, and the tablet did not get alarmingly hot during gaming sessions.

Xiaomi Pad 8 Cameras: Usable

  • Rear: 13-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture
  • Front: 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.28 aperture

The cameras present on the Xiaomi Pad 8 are usable for video calls, but that's it. The rear camera takes decent photos in daylight, but low-light performance is average. The front camera again does a decent job for video calls and occasionally taking selfies (but we have smartphones for that).

Xiaomi Pad 8 Battery: Massive backup

  • Battery Capacity: 9,200mAh
  • Wired Charging: 45W
  • Charger: 45W (Included)

The Xiaomi Pad 8 packs a whopping 9,000 mAh battery into a sleek form factor. The tablet lasted 28 hours and 30 minutes in our battery loop test. The tablet supports 45W fast charging, but it takes a long time to fully charge the device.

9 Xiaomi Pad 8

The Xiaomi Pad 8 features a massive 9,200mAh battery.

In testing, we found that the tablet charges to 26 percent in 15 minutes, 40 percent in 30 minutes, and 69 percent in 60 minutes. The tablet took 1 hour and 30 minutes to charge fully. In a real-life scenario, the tablet gives up a good battery life. With moderate use, you can easily get two to three days of battery life.

Xiaomi Pad 8 Verdict

To conclude, the Xiaomi Pad 8 offers an excellent value-for-money proposition. The sleek design makes it comfortable enough for on-the-go travel. The display looks good for this price segment. If you plan to go with it, I recommend the Nano Texture Display unit; it adds some brownie points.

4 Xiaomi Pad 8

The tablet offers good performance and value for money proposition to the customers.

The performance has also improved over its predecessor, and the addition of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor is a smart move by the company to deliver near-flagship-grade performance. The battery is decent as well, while HyperOS 3 is now cleaner, though you still get some app-level optimisation issues. That said, if you are looking for an entertainment powerhouse that also performs well in other areas, you can consider this tablet.
