  • The revision is said to have taken place in the Kolkata circle
  • Vodafone offers similar benefits with the Rs. 279 pack

Rs. 289 Airtel recharge pack comes with truly unlimited voice calling

Airtel has reportedly revised its Rs. 289 prepaid pack in select telecom circles to now offer a total of 4GB 2G/ 3G/ 4G data alongside an extended validity of 84 days. This Airtel recharge pack is said to be valid in Kolkata currently. This development comes in the wake of Vodafone introducing its Rs. 279 recharge pack that offers similar benefits including unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS messages per day, and 4GB of data. This pack is also valid for 84 days.

The same Rs. 289 Airtel recharge reportedly retains its previous validity of 48 days in certain circles such as Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala, as per a report by Telecom Talk. Gadgets 360 has not able to independently verify the revision, however Airtel might roll it out for a wider customer base soon.

To recall, the prepaid pack was first released in September this year and previously offered unlimited voice calls (local, STD, and roaming), 100 SMS messages per day, and a total of 1GB data for 48 days. The Gurugram-based telecom operator looks to strengthen its game against the country’s largest operator - Vodafone Idea. However, Airtel is offering truly unlimited calling with its pack, and Vodafone has a daily limit of 250 minutes and weekly limit of 1,000 minutes. Vodafone’s Rs. 279 pack is reportedly limited to the select circles including Karnataka and Mumbai.

Reliance Jio’s most affordable recharge pack with a validity of 84 days is priced much higher at Rs. 399. However, its benefits outweigh the ones offered by Airtel and Vodafone. For instance, it comes with 1.5GB of 4G data per day, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS messages per day, and complimentary subscription to Jio’s suite of apps including Jio Cinema, Jio Music, and more.
