Editor's note: Jio reached out to Gadgets 360 to clarify that the Rs. 799 recharge plan can still be purchased by prepaid subscribers via the telecom operator's website, the My Jio app, and other platforms like Google Pay, Paytm and PhonePe. This article has been updated accordingly.

Reliance Jio, India's largest telecom service provider (TSP), on Thursday refuted claims that it had delisted its Rs. 799 recharge plan from the My Jio app. The prepaid plan offers 1.5GB of high-speed data per day, along with 84 days of validity, unlimited calling, and 100 SMS text messages each day. It also offers a total of 126GB of data for the duration of the plan. The reports that the telco had axed its recharge plan came earlier this week, shortly after Airtel hiked the price of its Rs. 249 recharge plan to Rs. 299.

Tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) spotted that the Rs. 799 recharge plan was no longer visible for prepaid subscribers. At the time of publishing this story, Gadgets 360 was able to confirm that the plan was not listed on the My Jio app, but remained available via Jio's website. It is currently visible to subscribers via the TSP's official website and the My Jio app.

Reliance Jio's Rs. 799 plan offers 84 days, with 1.5GB of high-speed data. It also offers unlimited voice calling, a 100 SMS text messages per day quota, and a 126GB total data till the plan is valid. It also comes with a JioTV and a JioAICloud subscription. For Rs. 90 extra, the Rs. 889 carries the same benefits as its cheaper alternative, but subscribers also get access to Jio Saavn Pro.

The development comes soon after Airtel discontinued its Rs. 249 recharge plan, revising its price to Rs. 299. The plan had a validity of 24 days and offered 1GB of data per day, along with a 100 SMS per day quota, unlimited local, STD, and roaming calls. On top of this, users could avail of other complementary benefits, too.

A recent report highlighted that Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea are planning to hike mobile tariffs by the end of this year. These TSPs could potentially increase the prices by 10 percent to 12 percent, especially for users who purchase mid-to-high tier recharge plans.
