Twitter has finally improved its team account sharing solution, bringing it almost in-line with Facebook's. This allows firms and other groups to share access to a team account without disclosing the password with all contributors involved. It also allows admins to easily revoke access without changing the team account's password.

The solution has been rolled out via TweetDeck, the Twitter-owned social media dashboard app and Web interface for managing one or more Twitter accounts. The company on Tuesday introduced the new "simple solution to Twitter account sharing," dubbed TweetDeck Teams.

TweetDeck Teams, is rolling out to TweetDeck users on Web, Chrome and Windows starting Tuesday. App users will need to download the updated app. Users will be required to use their Twitter account (not TweetDeck account) to access this feature.

To create team for a particular account using TweetDeck Teams, users will be required to find and select members to 'Authorise' first. After this, the selected member will get an invitation email, which upon acceptance will add the person to the team for that particular account.

TweetDeck Team members can either be added as Admin or a Contributor.

As Admin, members will be able to sign into TweetDeck with their personal accounts and access features like follow/ unfollow accounts; build lists; send tweets; schedule tweets; add, remove and view team members, but they cannot access the account off of TweetDeck or change the credentials or password.

Contributors can also tweet from the account; build lists; follow/ unfollow accounts, and send and schedule tweets, but they cannot view, add or remove team members and access the account outside of TweetDeck.

"Finally, TweetDeck Teams has two types of roles: admin and contributor. As the person who knows the password, you can still Tweet from the account, add or remove team members, view the team and access the account from non-TweetDeck platforms (e.g., Twitter.com, Twitter mobile apps). You can also update the account's credentials or password," noted Amy Zima, Product Manager, TweetDeck.

The company is also asking TweetDeck Teams users to use two-factor login verification instead of relying on just a password. "Instead of relying on just a password, login verification introduces a second check to make sure that you and only you can access your Twitter account," Zima added.
