After introducing the third-party cloud service integration for the Office suite of apps on mobile in February, Microsoft on Thursday announced the similar integration with Dropbox for Office Online on the Web as well.

Microsoft Office Online users will now be able to view, open, create, edit, and save Office files from third-party cloud service Dropbox. Earlier the company had provided similar functionality for Office suite of apps on Android and iOS devices. On mobile, users can open, edit, and save files from iCloud, Dropbox and other third-party cloud storage services as well.

"Now, when working in Office Online you can add your Dropbox account to easily browse, open and edit Office files with Office Online. You can also create new files in Office Online, and save them directly to your Dropbox," noted the Microsoft Office team on the company's official Office blog.

Starting Thursday, the same integration is also available from Dropbox in a Web browser. Users can access Office Online directly from the file they are viewing in Dropbox. While previewing a file in Dropbox, users will need to click the 'Open' button to edit the file right from the browser using Microsoft Office Online.
