The Indian government is set to introduce new rules for phone screen protectors sold in the country. New BIS Rules for Phone Screen Protectors to Take Effect in India in 2027

The government has added smartphone screen protectors to the list of products covered by its compulsory registration rules. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology made the change through an amendment notified on September 21. It also identifies IS 19348:2025, titled “Glass Screen Protector — Specification”, as the Indian Standard that will apply to the category.
