The company has announced that the Xperia Z2, successor to the Xperia Z1, will be available in India starting May 12. Sony is also bundling 6 free HD movies for download, one full-HD cricket game, and 3 months Bigflix subscription, apart from a Sony original case worth Rs. 2,990, for free.

For those unaware, Sony announced the Xperia Z2 flagship and Xperia M2 mid-range smartphones at MWC, apart from the Xperia Z2 Tablet. Notably, the Xperia Z2 model launched in the country does not support India's 4G/ LTE bands.

The Sony Xperia Z2 runs Android 4.4. KitKat, and features a 5.2-inch (1080x1920 pixels) Triluminos display with X-Reality engine. Powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AB) processor with an Adreno 330 GPU, the Xperia Z2 features 3GB of RAM.

Shipping with 16GB of built-in storage (11.5GB user available), the Xperia Z2 features microSD card storage expandability up to 128GB. It features a 3200mAh battery that's rated to deliver up to 830 hours of talk time, standby time of 880 hours, continuous music playback time of 110 hours.

Notably, the Xperia Z2 features the same 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS sensor as its predecessor, capable of 4K (Ultra-HD) video recording. Also onboard is a 2.2-megapixel rear camera. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, HSPA+, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, DLNA, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.0, NFC, FM radio with RDS, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Sony also launched the SmartBand SWR10 in India as well, priced at Rs. 5,990. The Sony SmartBand, introduced at MWC, focuses on tracking the fitness and health of users and also monitors user's sleep, receive notifications and handle media playback options.

The Sony SmartBand, like many of the firm's previous devices, is waterproof and comes with a 'Lifelog' app, which lets the users see what images users have taken, what places they have been visiting and how they have been 'communicating with the world'.

Earlier, the Japanese giant expanding its mid-range Xperia smartphone line-up launched the Xperia M2 Dual at Rs. 21,990.

The Sony Xperia M2 Dual is the dual-SIM variant of the Sony Xperia M2, which was announced at MWC. The Xperia M2 Dual, as the name suggests, is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) phone with dual active support, which means that users can keep both SIMs active and never miss a call, even when talking on one of them. Other specifications remain identical to the single SIM variant, the Xperia M2.
