Xiaomi, soon after being permitted to import and sell Qualcomm chipset-based handsets in India, has announced that it will hold a flash sale on December 23 (Tuesday) for the budget Redmi 1S.

Announcing the news on his Facebook page, Hugo Barra, Xiaomi's Global Vice President revealed that registrations for the Xiaomi Redmi 1S will open shortly. He said, "We are happy to announce that the Delhi High Court today issued a ruling in our favor, allowing us to resume sales in India subject to certain terms."

Apart from the budget Redmi 1S, Barra also confirmed that Xiaomi will resume sales of its Redmi Note phablet in India; though it will bring the 4G model of the handset this time.

For those unaware, the dual-SIM Redmi 1S powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC (MSM8228), while the single-SIM 4G LTE variant of the Redmi Note is backed by a quad-core 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday allowed Xiaomi to import and sell Qualcomm chipset-based phones until January 8 as a temporary measure.

Recently, the High Court had restrained Xiaomi as well as online e-commerce site Flipkart from selling in India handsets of the Chinese mobile maker that run on the technology patented by Swedish technology company Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson.

A bench headed by Justice Pradeep Nandrajog on Tuesday passed the "pro tem order" as Xiaomi had contended that Ericsson suppressed the fact that the Chinese mobile maker has also used chipsets of Qualcomm which has a licence to use patents of the Swedish company.

The previous time the Redmi 1S went on sale was on December 8 via Flipkart without registration 'while stocks last'. Xiaomi did not reveal how many units had gone on sale.
