Here’s How LG MiniRGB85 Actually Impressed Us

By Sponsored Content | Updated: 30 July 2026 20:07 IST

If you are hunting for a new smart TV this year, you have probably noticed how crowded the market has become. Every brand claims better colours, sharper AI, and smoother gaming. So where does the LG MiniRGB85 fit into all this noise? We took a closer look at the MiniRGB85's specifications and features to see what really sets it apart.

The MiniRGB85 comes in four screen sizes, 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, and 86-inch, so whether you have a compact living room or an entire wall to fill, LG has a size for you.

Display Built Around Real Colour

The biggest talking point here is the Mini RGB LED panel.

LG backs this up with real certification. The MiniRGB85 is Intertek tested for Double 100% Color Coverage, hitting 100% DCI-P3 (the standard used in digital cinema) and 100% Adobe RGB (the standard photographers and graphic designers swear by). Very few TVs manage both at once, and having independent lab certification means this is not just a marketing number.

RGB Primary Color Pro works alongside this panel to push more accurate, punchier colours across everything you watch, from a sunset documentary to a colourful travel show. The difference is easiest to spot in scenes with a lot of reds, oranges, and greens, colours that conventional LED panels often struggle to reproduce cleanly.

Brain Behind the Screen

Picture and sound processing is handled by the new Alpha 8 AI Processor 4K Gen3. This chip brings faster neural processing compared to before, along with a  boost in GPU performance and higher memory throughput. In simple terms, the TV can analyse and enhance video frames faster and with more precision.

This processor also drives Precision Dimming and Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro, which control how light and dark areas of the screen behave scene by scene. You get richer contrast and more visible detail in shadows, instead of dark scenes looking flat or washed out. AI HDR Remastering takes it further by upgrading standard content to near HDR quality, and AI Picture Pro upscales lower resolution content to near 4K.

AI That Actually Helps You

The MiniRGB85 does not just throw the word AI around for the sake of it. It comes with Multi-AI Search, letting you search using either Google Gemini or Microsoft Copilot right from your remote, so you can ask questions and get answers without picking up your phone.

Then there's the personalisation layer. AI Voice ID recognises who is speaking and pulls up their own personalised My Page, complete with their watch history, weather, calendar, and recommendations. AI Picture Wizard and AI Sound Wizard let every person in the house set their own picture and sound preferences, so movie night looks different for you than it does for your sibling or your parents, based on what each of you prefers.

The AI Magic Remote having a dedicated AI Key lets you point and navigate like an air mouse, making it quick to jump into any of these AI tools. And if something goes wrong with the TV, the AI Chatbot flags the issue and suggests a fix which saves you a call to customer support.

Cinema at Home

For movie lovers, the MiniRGB85 supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, the same formats used in commercial theatres. Combined with HDR10 and HLG support, you get a wide range of content mastered in high dynamic range playing back the way the filmmaker intended, with deeper blacks, brighter highlights, and more visible detail throughout.

On the audio side, Virtual 11.1.2 Channel Up-mix creates a room-filling surround sound experience without needing a dozen physical speakers. AI Object Remastering Ultra goes a step further and isolates voices in noisy scenes, like a concert or a crowded street, so dialogue stays clear even when everything else is loud.

Built for Sports Fans

If you follow cricket, football, or any live sport, the large screen sizes alone make a difference, especially at 75 or 86-inch, making it easier to follow fast-moving action. Beyond size, the TV includes Sports Alerts, so you get notified about your favourite team or match without hunting through apps. My Page also displays live sports tiles with scores and standings right on your home screen, along with content tailored to leagues you follow, like the IPL. It is a small feature, but it means you are not switching between five apps just to check a score during a match.

Serious Gaming Chops

Gamers get a proper reason to consider this TV too. It supports Motion Booster up to 288Hz along with up to 144Hz VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium, ALLM, and HGiG mode, all of which reduce lag and screen tearing during fast-paced games. the MiniRGB85 also supports Bluetooth Ultra Low Latency controllers, cutting input delay to under 2.5 milliseconds, which feels close to a wired connection even when you are playing over the cloud. Built-in Xbox Cloud Gaming support means you can play supported titles without needing an Xbox console.

Software That Does Not Go Stale

One thing people often overlook when buying a TV is how quickly the software feels outdated after a couple of years. LG addresses this with the webOS Re:New Program, which brings up to 5 years of platform upgrades. That means new features, an updated interface, and continued security patches long after you have brought the TV home. Speaking of security, LG Shield handles installed app protection, network encryption, and privacy safeguards, so your smart TV is not the weak link in your home network.

The TV runs on webOS 26 with a Snappy UI that LG says makes browsing and switching between apps noticeably quicker.

Free Content Without the Extra Box

Finally, there is LG Channels, which gives you access to over 150 channels of news, sports, movies, and entertainment, all for free. No subscription, no cable connection, and no separate set-top box required. It is content that is ready to watch the moment you switch the TV on.

Should You Buy It?

The LG MiniRGB85 is not chasing one single feature to stand out. It brings together a genuinely well-certified display, a faster processor, useful AI tools, strong gaming specs, and software that is built to last longer than the usual two or three-year cycle. Whether you care most about movie nights, live sports, or gaming, this TV covers enough ground to make a strong case for itself. If you are due for an upgrade this year, the MiniRGB85 should be your choice.
