Google has released its Helpouts app on iTunes for all iOS devices running iOS 6.0 or higher. It was made available for Android devices running 4.0.3 or higher last month.

Helpouts app is a Hangouts-based remote learning platform that helps users learn from expert knowledge in a specific subject. It connects them to expert help over live video. At present, it does not support creating new listings for topics, a feature that is currently limited to the Helpouts website.

The Helpouts app is essentially optimised for iPhone 5, but it is also compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, all iPad models, and all iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or higher.

It supports list of languages like English, Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.

Google had launched the service last year in November and it featured roughly 1,000 partners in fashion, fitness, computers and other topics available for live, one-on-one video consultations. The service now covers categories like Art & Music, Computers & Electronics, Cooking, Education & Careers, Fashion & Beauty, Fitness & Nutrition, Health and Home & Garden.

In addition to individual experts, large brands such as Sephora, Weight Watchers and Rosetta Stone also offer video sessions on the Helpouts service.

The video sessions can be as short as a few minutes or can last several hours, depending on the topic, with pricing set by each individual provider.

Google takes 20 percent of the fee that the providers collect from consumers for the video chats, though Google is initially waving the transaction fee for providers in the Health category.
