  • Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ spotted to get Android 7.1 Nougat soon
  • Vodafone Australia has submitted a list of upcoming software updates
  • It’s not clear when the update will roll out

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 8 phablet flagship is due to launch this month, but that hasn't stopped the South Korean consumer electronics giant from moving ahead with plans to bring the Android 7.1 Nougat update to its other flagships of 2017 - the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Ever since they shipped in April this year, both the smartphones have received minor updates including security patches but users have been waiting for the latest Android update. Vodafone Australia has now hinted at an imminent release of Android 7.1 Nougat in its Software Update Weekly Wrap.

Vodafone has issued a list of upcoming software updates coming to various smartphones in Australia, including the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ for which the telco has 'submitted' the Android 7.1 Nougat version along with stability and bug fixes.

The Vodafone list is particularly about Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ software updates arriving in Australia, but despite that, the updates are likely to roll out widely to other regions as well soon. Of course, it's still unclear just when the Android 7.1 Nougat update will roll out in Australia itself.

In April this year, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ running on Android 7.0 Nougat started shipping. The smartphones have sporadically received a few updates with security patches and some bug fixes. Both Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have been so far acclaimed for their design and features, specifically the 18.5:9 aspect ratio Infinity Display. Samsung is now gearing up to present its anticipated flagship phablet, Galaxy Note 8, towards the end of this month. It will be interesting to see whether the successor to the unfortunate Galaxy Note 7 will make a successful mark in the market.
