There's no doubt that the Sony Xperia Honami or i1 has become one of the most eagerly anticipated smartphones of the year as leaks related to the device just keep coming in.

Businessweek has now claimed that Sony will be unveiling its next flagship smartphone on September 4 before the start of the IFA consumer show in Berlin. According to the report, Sony's next flagship has been developed under an internal code-name of Honami, which is a Japanese hot-spring area.

The report further claims that the alleged Sony Xperia Honami or i1 will feature 'X-Reality' picture-enhancement chips developed for Bravia TVs as well as sensors shipping in company's Cybershot cameras. The expected launch date for Xperia Honami or i1 is in-line with earlier reports that pointed at an IFA launch.

Previously, a rumour claimed that the Xperia Honami or i1 smartphone will be capable of capturing 4K videos.

Earlier rumours suggested that the device may sport a 5.0-inch full-HD display. It's likely to be powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. The highlight of Sony's next flagship smartphone is said to be its camera, as it features a 20-megapixel Exmor RS rear camera that is expected to sport a Sony G-lens and BIONZ image processor. The phone is also expected to feature a 2.0-megapixel front facing camera. It may include 16GB internal storage and a 3000mAh battery. The device is said to run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It is also being rumoured that the device would be dust- and water-resistant.

In addition to the handset, the company is also expected to launch attachable smartphone lens cameras dubbed as DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100. Both the lenses come with built-in sensors, Bionz processor, Wi-Fi or NFC wireless connection, SD card slot support, and can reportedly be attached to any Android smartphone and even an iPhone.

It's worth pointing out that, Samsung has already sent official invitations for an event scheduled on September 4 in Berlin, where it's expected to unveil the large screen, Galaxy Note III and Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch.
