Xiaomi 17 Max was launched in China on Thursday as the fifth model in the tech giant's flagship Xiaomi 17 lineup. The handset was unveiled during the company's May 2026 event, which also witnessed the debut of Xiaomi YU7 GT electric vehicle, Xiaomi Band 10 Pro, and Xiaomi Ear Clip TWS. The Xiaomi 17 Max is powered by the same octa core Snapdragon 8 series chipset that powers the other smartphones in the lineup. It gets a Leica-tuned triple rear camera system, headlined by a 200-megapixel main shooter. Moreover, the Xiaomi 17 Max packs the largest battery among all the Xiaomi 17 series phones.

Xiaomi 17 Max Price, Availability

The price of the Xiaomi 17 Max starts at CNY 4,799 (roughly Rs. 68,000) for the base variant offering 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Meanwhile, the higher-end 16GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB RAM and storage configurations cost CNY 5,099 (about Rs. 72,000) and CNY 5,399 (roughly Rs. 76,000), respectively. Lastly, the top-of-the-line model, with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, is priced at CNY 5,799 (about Rs. 82,000).

The Xiaomi 17 Max is currently available for pre-order in China and will go on sale in the country on May 25 via the Xiaomi online store. The Xiaomi 17 Max is offered in Pixel Black, Sky Blue, and White colour options.

The Xiaomi 17 Max is a dual SIM handset that runs on Xiaomi's Android 16-based HyperOS 3. The phone sports a 6.9-inch 1.5K (1,200×2,608 pixels) AMOLED display, delivering up to 120Hz of refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, up to 3,500 nits peak brightness, HDR10+ support, HDR Vivid, Dolby Vision, and Dragon Crystal 3.0 protection. The company claims that the handset ships with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Powering the Xiaomi 17 Max is an octa core Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which is built on a 3nm process, delivering a peak clock speed of 4.6GHz. The phone also features an Adreno GPU, the Qualcomm AI Engine, up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 onboard storage. The Xiaomi 17 Max also gets a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for security.

For optics, the Xiaomi 17 Max carries a Leica-tuned triple rear camera unit, led by a 200-megapixel (f/1.65) primary shooter with a Samsung HP9 sensor, 23mm focal length, and optical image stabilisation (OIS). The phone also features a 50-megapixel (f/2.4) periscope telephoto camera with up to 3x optical zoom, paired with a 50-megapixel (f/2.4) ultrawide camera, offering a 102-degree field of view. On the front, the Xiaomi 17 Max gets a 32-megapixel (f/2.2) selfie camera. It is capable of recording videos at up to 4K/30 fps.

The Xiaomi 17 Max packs an 8,000mAh battery with support for 100W wired fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging. It also supports 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, a USB Type-C port, GPS, GLONASS, QZSS, and NavIC for connectivity. The list of onboard sensors includes a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor, an IR blaster, a colour temperature sensor, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, an e-compass, and a barometer. It measures 162.9×77.6×8.2mm and weighs about 225g.
