Reliance Jio Website Now Mentions Home Broadband, Jio Link Digital Set-Top Box

Soon after the launch of Reliance Jio in September, the company was reportedly testing fibre-to-home services in Mumbai and Pune. A few months later, the company confirmed that it will still testing broadband services, and did not reveal any additional details about the speeds, rates, or launch date.

However, a change on the Jio website suggests that the launch date for the service might be getting closer now. On the Quick Recharge page for Reliance Jio, you can see recharge options for existing services Mobile & JioFi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and Jio Apps; along with two new options - Home Broadband, and Jio Link.

Clicking on those options does not reveal more details, however, during the launch of the Jio mobile network, Chairman Mukesh Ambani had said that the company would launch a fibre network capable of 1Gbps speeds.

Jio Link, like a TV set-top box

What's less clear is Jio Link - from the the image on the website, Jio Link looks like a TV set top box for the rumoured Jio TV service that has also been expected. According to rumours, Jio has been looking at offering an IPTV solution, not DTH, but the company has not offered any comment on this, or the launch date for the broadband either.

A source close to the company told Gadgets 360 that testing is continuing, and that a final date has not been set at the moment. The same source also said that plans and other information that might end up available online could change ahead of the actual launch.
