Redmi Pad 2 is expected to go official in India soon. The tablet is said to arrive as the successor to 2022's Redmi Pad, packing a bigger screen, a larger battery and improved performance that the current model. It was launched in select global markets earlier this month. In recent days, the Xiaomi subsidiary has begun teasing several details about the upcoming tablet. It will come with support for stylus, and artificial intelligence (AI)-backed features like Google's Circle to Search.

Redmi Pad 2 India Launch Details

The Redmi Pad 2 will be launched in India on June 18, the company recently announced via its social media handle. The teaser carries the tagline “built for more”. We will keep you updated with our coverage of the Redmi Pad 2 leading up to its launch.

Redmi Pad 2 Expected Price in India and Sale Date

Although Redmi is yet to officially announce the pricing of the upcoming Pad 2 in India, its global pricing gives us an idea of how much it would cost. It is priced at GBP 169 (roughly Rs. 18,000) for the base model with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage (Wi-Fi only) in Europe. Meanwhile, its 8GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration (Wi-Fi only) is priced at GBP 219 (roughly Rs. 25,000).

The cellular variants of the Redmi Pad 2 cost GBP 219 and GBP 259 (roughly Rs. 30,000) for the 4GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB RAM and storage variants, respectively. It is expected to be sold through Amazon, Flipkart, the Xiaomi India website, and possibly select retail stores.

Design

The Redmi Pad 2 is expected to be released in two colourways — blue and grey, with the latter also available with the global variant (Graphite Gray). The tablet appears to have a similar design as its predecessor, with uniform bezels surrounding a rectangular screen.

At the back, there's a single camera in a vertically-placed setup at the top-left corner, whereas it also carries the Redmi branding on the bottom-left.

Display

The global variant of the Redmi Pad 2 sports an 11-inch (1,600×2,560 pixels) screen with 90Hz refresh rate, 274ppi pixel density and 500nits peak brightness. The panel has a 16:10 aspect ratio and offers up to 360Hz touch sampling rate.

The tablet is compatible with the Redmi Smart Pen which is sold separately. It supports a 60Hz refresh rate when paired with the Redmi Pad 2.

Performance and OS

The Redmi Pad 2 is powered by a 6nm MediaTek Helio G100 Ultra processor, paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 onboard storage. The latter can be expanded up to 2TB via a microSD card. It is also equipped with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for handling graphic-intensive tasks.

The Redmi tablet runs on Android 15-based HyperOS 2.

Camera

In the camera department, the global variant of the Redmi Pad 2 sports a single 5-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture. There is also a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calls.

Battery and Other Features

The Redmi Pad 2 global variant is equipped with a 9,000mAh battery with support for 18W wired charging. The company claims up to 234 hours of music playback and up to 86 days of standby time on a single charge.

In terms of dimensions, the tablet measures 254.58×166.04×7.36mm and weighs 510g. It comes with Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB Type-C port for connectivity. Further, the company also provides a quad-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support. Sensors onboard the Redmi Pad 2 include an accelerometer, a hall sensor and a virtual ambient light sensor.
