New information about Apple's next iPhone models has hit the Web, with noted KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo breaking down what can be expected in the new handsets that are currently speculated to be called the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus if going by the firm's naming scheme.

According to Kuo (via 9to5 Mac), the Force Touch technology introduced in the Apple Watch and the new 12-inch MacBook will be the highlight of the smartphones. The technology, which is said to offer more input methods to users and support handwritten signatures, is also said to be one of the main supply bottlenecks for the new phones.

Kuo adds that the next iPhone models will be available in the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display size variants and resolutions as the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models, and that there will be no 4-inch display model as has been rumoured on several occasions previously. Also, Apple is expected to add a new casing colour for the next iPhone versions, Rose Gold, to match the handsets with the Rose Gold Apple Watch Edition.

The analyst added the smartphones would get a rear camera upgrade in the form of resolution, bumping up the current 8-megapixel offerings to 12-megapixels. He said a microphone would be added near the speakers to boost voice clarity. As for the processors, the next-gen Apple A9 processor is said to be clubbed with 2GB LPDDR4 of RAM, a big boost from the 1GB LPDDR3 RAM on the current iPhone models, as well as the 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM on the iPad Air 2.

Talking about resolving the bending issues seen in the iPhone 6 Plus, Kuo mentioned that Apple would this time be using different case metals and would introduce internal mechanical design changes to prevent bending. He added that a limited number of 5.5-inch iPhone units will also come with a sapphire cover lens, "if drop test issues can be resolved'.

Coming to the Touch ID sensor, Kuo said that Apple is working on improving the recognition rate with hopes to further boost Apple Pay adoption. Kuo also said that aside from the Force Touch technology, Apple would implement gesture control support.

Kuo also gave the time-frame when the mass production of the next generation iPhone devices will start - mid to late-August. He also claimed the total shipments in 2015 will be 80-90 million, in a 2:1 ratio for the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models. Apple obviously is far from confirming any of the above mentioned features.
