There is no shortage of fitness bands in the current wearables market and with the increase in general awareness about health, the market is likely to grow further. Huawei has now come up with its new fitness band to try and increase its share in this market, as the company has launched its 'Huawei Fit' band which has been priced by the company at $129.99 (roughly Rs. 8,700) in the US where it is available from Thursday itself, and EUR 149 (roughly Rs. 11,000) in Europe, where it will soon be available in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Portugal.

The Huawei Fit features a round-face design, reminiscent of Pebble Time Round, and comes with an 1.04-inch LCD display with a resolution of 208x208 pixels. It is capable of tracking fitness activities like walking, running, and swimming automatically, apart from counting steps and calories. It also bears a heart rate monitor with 'high signal strength' for increased accuracy, and can track sleep patterns. The company says it has training guidance built-in for various types of marathons.

The Huawei Fit will come in Moonlight Silver or Titanium Grey variants, with 18mm or 20mm, swappable Black, Orange, and Blue straps.

Apart from its fitness tracking capabilities, Huawei Fit also provides the users with notifications from their smartphones for calls and messages. The battery on the band reportedly lasts for six days of normal use and 30 days on standby. It takes around two hours for the band to charge to its full capacity. It does not have its own GPS, but can pair with smartphones via the Huawei Wear app for that function.

As smartwatches like Apple Watch Series 2 have become a more lucrative option with features like water-resistance, it has now become more important than ever for the fitness bands to leave their mark and prevent users from making a switch.
